Therapy Through VCAP

at Better Minds Counseling & Service

You’ve been through something hard, something that wasn’t your fault.
Whether it was violence, abuse, sexual assault, stalking, or another traumatic event, you're left to carry the weight of it. The fear. The stress. The impact on your daily life. It’s exhausting, isolating, and often unfair. And the last thing you should have to worry about is how to afford therapy.

If you're a survivor of crime in Pennsylvania, you may qualify for free therapy services through the Victims Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP). We’re here to walk you through the process, and support you every step of the way.

What is VCAP?

VCAP (Victims Compensation Assistance Program) is a Pennsylvania-based program that helps victims of crime access support services—including mental health therapy—at no cost to them. This includes survivors of:

  • Sexual assault or abuse

  • Domestic violence

  • Stalking or harassment

  • Physical assault

  • Robbery or violent crime

  • Homicide loss (for surviving family members)

If you’ve experienced any of these, you may be eligible for free therapy even if you never filed a police report.

You Don't Have to Prove Anything to Get Support

You might think, “But I didn’t report it,” or “It happened years ago.”
VCAP doesn’t require a police report in all cases. If you’ve experienced a qualifying crime and you’re struggling with the emotional impact, we can help you figure out if you're eligible and guide you through the steps.

How We Support VCAP Clients at Better Minds

We know how overwhelming it can be to reach out for therapy, especially after trauma or abuse. At Better Minds, we make the process easier:

  • Ensure you are set-up with VCAP

  • We’ll match you with a therapist who fits your needs

  • We’ll handle billing directly with the program, so you don’t have to

  • We offer virtual therapy across Pennsylvania (we are only VCAP providers in Pennsylvania)

You get care. We handle the rest.

Is This You? You Might Be Eligible If…

  • You’re a survivor of sexual, physical, or emotional violence

  • You’ve experienced harassment or stalking

  • You’ve been impacted by a violent crime or the loss of a loved one due to violence

  • You live in Pennsylvania or the crime occurred here

  • You want help processing what happened, but cost has been a barrier

You don’t have to keep reliving it alone. You don’t have to push it down to keep going. Therapy through VCAP is about helping you reclaim your voice, feel safe again, and begin healing at your own pace.

Let’s Get You the Support You Deserve

We know asking for help isn’t easy. That’s why we make it simple. Reach out today to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

  • After your intro meeting, Better Minds admin will email you the initial paperwork (consents, etc.) to review before your first appointment.
