We've Got Answers 〰️

  • You can start the same week you are reading this! Better Minds believes that waiting for therapy is not right and want you to be able to access therapy when you want to.

We offer a consultation or intro meeting with the therapist you are looking for prior to starting therapy.

Unsure who you want to work with? Contact us today to start therapy; we will sync you with a therapist that is available and who fits what you are looking to address in therapy.

  • Yes! We love to call these introductory meetings. It is a time that you meet and be introduced to the therapist you are interested in working with for 15-minutes (free). They therapist will answer your questions, and you’ll hear how they work in therapy.

When you reach out via contact form, by phone, or via email, we will help get you connected with the therapist for this meeting today!

*If you prefer taking the middle person (our admin) out of the way, you can schedule directly with a therapist! Head to the therapist team page, select the therapist, and schedule!

  • We offer a range of therapy appointment times that will be decided between your therapist and you. Often they are 50-minutes for individual therapy, 50-90 minutes for couples therapy, and 60-minutes for group therapy.

View our therapist team to decide what therapy service is best for you.

  • How long you are in therapy is dependent on a few things such as: how many goals you set, how often you meet with your therapist, and engagement in therapy.

Therapy is individualized, so while someone may be in therapy for 6 months, another person may see a therapist for years. Know that your therapist will talk about your therapy goals, progress, and any concerns on an ongoing basis.

  • We do not. We are not in-network with insurance companies. However, we offer out-of-network mental health services, which is done by submitting superbills that we will provide to you. For OON, you can typically be reimbursed a portion of the session fee, often ranging from 50% to 80%, depending on your insurance plan and policy.

For example: if you are seeing a therapist at $120, you would be reimbursed between $60-96 of that appointment, which ends up being almost similar to a co-pay for an in-network provider.

Here are the options we offer at Better Minds:

    • Out-of-pocket pay (aka private pay, self-pay),

    • Out-of-Network via us providing Superbills

(we can provide a form that walks you through the steps to know if you have out-of-network mental health benefits),

*Those with a PPO plan (Preferred Provider Organization) then you will most likely have out-of-network benefits, which means you will get reimbursed for therapy,

    • You can use your HSA/FSA to pay for therapy,

    • Group therapy (lower cost than individual therapy),

    • Victims Compensation Assistance Program (VCAP ) of PA

To find out if you have out-of-network benefits and what the reimbursement would be for you, you can call the behavioral health/mental health number on the back of your insurance card or please contact us and we will share a resource to guide you through this process.

  • At Better Minds Counseling & Services, we choose to be private pay so we can offer personalized, high-quality care without the limitations of insurance. This allows us to protect your privacy, provide therapy that fits your unique needs, not insurance checklists, and connect you with the right therapist for you. Many insurance plans also have high deductibles, meaning clients pay out-of-pocket anyway. By staying private pay, we focus fully on your care, not paperwork or restrictions.

To learn more about why many therapy practices choose private pay and how out-of-network reimbursement works, read our blog on paying for therapy and using superbills.

  • Fees vary by therapist and service.

  • We primarily provide online therapy (aka teletherapy or telehealth appointments). We find this allows for ease of scheduling and lessens the burden of travel to appointments. Offering virtual therapy also allows you to truly select who you wish to work with in therapy.

At times, there are opportunities to meet in-person with your therapist based upon location and scheduling. This will often look like walk-and-talk therapy. Confidentiality and other considerations will be reviewed on an individual basis.
