Intentional Therapist Book Club
Therapist Book Club: An Intentional Collaborative Community for Therapists
Quarterly, Wednesdays 11AM
Starting 9/30/2026
Hosted by: Roni Evans
Being a therapist can feel isolating, even when you're surrounded by clients all day. This book club was created for clinicians who value and want real connection and a space to think alongside others in the field.
You probably have a stack of books you've been meaning to read… You know, the ones that keep getting bumped for client notes, case consults, and everything else on your plate. This book club gives you the structure to actually get to them. Read on your own time, at your own pace then bring your thoughts to the group. One book, one quarter, built-in accountability, so the reading you've been meaning to do finally happens.
We meet quarterly to discuss what we've read, reflect, and grow together, not in isolation, but in community. This is a mutual-aid space where therapists show up for each other the way we ask our clients to show up for themselves.
What you can expect:
A collaborative reading community — one read a quarter with thoughtful discussions on clinical texts, memoirs, and books that push our field forward; a space for differing perspectives and honest dialogue.
A place to apply what you read — connect the ideas on the page to the work you're actually doing with clients, and leave with a clearer sense of how to bring it into session.
Resource building — leave every meeting with a new professional relationship and accessible tools.
This is an intentional space built for therapists like you to think out loud, ask the questions you can't always ask in supervision, find your community and supportive network, and finally make time for the reading pile you've been meaning to tackle. Also, this is a great way to build relationships and networks without the awkward small talk over coffee.
Quarterly meetings for therapists; $30 per meeting
Therapist Book Club FAQs
-
This group is open to licensed therapists and clinicians-in-training (associate/pre-licensed) across the Philadelphia and Greater Philadelphia Area as there will be in-person opportunities to meet for the book club.
You don't need to be a Better Minds client or clinician to participate.
Once signed up, you will meet with the club facilitator
-
This is a fully virtual club.
In the future, we aim to offer in-person club meetings as well.
-
First one is Wednesday 9/30/2026
-
Of course! This club has rolling admission.
-
Come anyway. This is a low-pressure space. Partial reads, skimmed chapters, and "I got the audiobook halfway through" are all welcome. The goal is connection and reflection, not a book report.
-
The books are selected based on members' preferences and interests. The club facilitator will track and announce the next book at the start of each club meeting along with the next date of the club meeting.
-
Club meetings are $30 and due by the end of each meeting.
We use Square which safely and securely stores your card information - plus! It can be a business expense for you.
-
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy, which if you are unable to attend and the club facilitator is not notified within that timeframe, you would be responsible for the club fee for that meeting missed.
The fee is to ensure your spot is reserved, along with the preparation in setting up the club meeting.
-
After meeting with the club facilitator, you will be notified within 2 business days about participating in the book club.
Once in, you do not need to register for each meeting.
-
As this is a curated intentional space, we will not exceed: 8
This may change over time based on right fit of therapist requests to join and length of time of the club meetings.
-
They are 60-minutes, 11AM-12PM EDT
-
Roni Evans, LAPC, RYT, facilitates each meeting. Roni brings a somatic and movement-informed lens to clinical practice and has a special interest in grief, trauma, OCD, neurodiversity, and LGBTQ+.
Their focus does not determine the books chosen; this helps you understand where they are in their clinical work and how they will expand their work in this club.
-
No — books span clinical texts, memoirs, and field-relevant nonfiction, so therapists from any modality or specialty are welcome.
